Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - June 14, 2025

Ethan and Ehlana:

Here we are with another early-evening report and in this case; we’re writing it after dinner and while getting cleaned up ahead of our second camping night that is going to include outdoor movies instead of a campfire.  Since our last report, we had a lot of fun with the campfire and camping; stayed up really late; and even had a late-night swim with some of our cousins and friends before getting around to our co-ed camping fun.  That last part was only for some of us; and definitely didn’t include any of our cousins or most of our friends.

Tai Chi by the river was fun with the extra exercise buddies and spectators; breakfast was an adventure with a gang to get fed and the work on either side of that meal; and then most of the teens and kids moved on while Ehlana and I got busy with our chores for the morning.  Ehlana needed to wrap up early for her noon ballgame, so I worked a bit longer and then took my lunch along when I went to the park to support Ehlana, Naomi, and the rest of their team mates.  The Hair Hawks were up against Emerson’s Eagles today; they won by a lot; and let’s leave it there because Ehlana’s team might prove to be much-better than the other girls’ teams in their division.  My game was at three o’clock, so we moved from one game to the other; and we’ll credit our cheer squad with our win.  It would be fun to joke about my team having a disadvantage with Zack and Eli on our team, but they’re taking the game more-seriously this year; and helped out with the win.  We’re sponsored by BMR Labs; we’re going with that same name instead of the longer BMR Labradors; and our first opponent of the season was the Grocery Greyhounds.  Our team won too; so it was a good day for our family teams.

We came straight home from the park and arrived as dinner was ready – another barbeque that Mom and Dad were hosting but included lots of pot-luck contributions from other families.  We ate first; hit the showers after that; and now we’re writing this update while rounding up our gear for the outdoor movies that will be starting at dusk.  There isn’t much time before we need to get out there and set things up, but we do want to include another Iran-Israel war update.  That isn’t good news, since the air battles continue and have expanded to include hitting oil fields and refineries.  That won’t be good for world energy prices, and that will get a lot of attention by Monday, but we want to stay focused on the destruction in both countries – including all of the weapons being used up when we’re talking about billions of dollars of waste with each round of strikes even when the missiles are intercepted.  The military industrial complex loves that – and getting to test out their toys, but those billions of dollars are now gone; and that’ll give governments around the world the excuse to spend billions more to build replacement missiles and other tech.  That will be future resources that won’t be used for better purposes; and we wish that it wasn’t true and inevitable.

Let’s also mention that all of these missiles and defensive interceptors also can’t be used elsewhere – like in Ukraine; and we wonder how long that can be sustained before ‘our’ side loses one or both wars – not that anyone wins conflicts like these when both sides are facing horrific losses of life and property.  We don’t expect anything to change and it seems as though all diplomacy is done now; so it may truly come down to one side winning before we’ll see the fighting come to an end.

Okay, it is time for us to go.  Stay tuned, since even if our adventures here at home seem boring by comparison; we will keep you posted on current events in our world even while we’re on our summer break!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
