Happy 5th Anniversary, Chris and Sadie Rice!
It’s Friday the 13th in Witch Falls, and while it has been a scary day elsewhere in the world; we’re having a good day – especially now that we’re officially on our summer break!
We’re writing this update quickly ahead of our campfire; and only held off because we also wanted to keep up with the world news to get first stories about the Iran-Israel conflict that is basically now at the least an air-based war. Israel has continued the attacks into a second day now; and Iran has sent their first volleys of missiles in retaliation to the attacks last night. This is already awful; sure to get worse; and there are also now reports out there that ‘our’ so-called negotiations with Iran were intentionally done to help set up the Israeli attacks while having no intention of actually working out a peace deal at all. That suggests that no other countries should trust any diplomacy with us – and that is true for Russia, China, and either foes or allies of our country! That’s a terrible thing to suggest about our own country, but it that’s true for this; then it is just as likely to be true for the negotiations with Russia while attacks were planned and carried out inside Russia or even the trade negotiations with China. We aren’t going to rant about this because we do have a campfire to get to with our family and friends – and a camping night; so let’s get to the rest of our story.
Our school day was short and we mostly celebrated with a movie this morning; some outdoor time; and a lunchtime party that ended once we were set free early in the afternoon. The weather has mostly been good except for a short blast of rain this afternoon, but that didn’t really get in the way of our fun. We did some biking; swimming, and set up our tents after the rain cleared out. Mom and Dad hosted a barbeque dinner and our outdoor play time; and now we’re getting ready for the campfire that will include most of our favorite adults too – though for some reason; none of them wanted to camp with us tonight! Naomi and the Haunted Harmonies will be helping with the music tonight, and we’ll draft Cassie and Michael for some songs too; and we’ll get some of the parents and grandparents to help with the campfire stories. We’ll add more with our next report, but while we started small with our camping plans; we had cousins and friends join in and set up tents too both before and after dinner. Ehlana and I helped with the dinner clean-up; and then we went for a canoe ride that included a stop at the park to check out Friday evening ball games. We have our first games of the season tomorrow afternoon; so we’ll be busy with that and our usual weekend chores too.
That is enough for this report and we really do need to get back to the fun with our friends; so we’re out of here and back to the adventures we’ll write about sometime tomorrow.
