Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - October 8, 2020

Ehlana and Ethan:

We’ve had an awesome day so far; and the fun is going to continue because we’re going to have a co-ed camping night thanks to another great weather day.

The festival, as we’ve mentioned, is open for an extra day so that the usual student and pre-school visitors could be split into two groups and make social distancing easier.  The lab gets most of the credit for making that happen; since they’re paying most of the extra costs.  That’s also part of the reason for why we get an awesome midway this year too; though other fall festival cancellations affected the availability of extreme rides for a smaller festival like ours.  Thanks to all of that and the social distancing plan; we’ve had a blast and gotten to enjoy going on all of our favorite rides pretty much as many times as we could fit into the day – without any major wait time in lines.

Extreme rides are not the point of our ‘educational’ day at the festival, but writing about the farm and craft displays and contests isn’t exciting, and while the shows we watched were fun; those rides really are what most kids and teens love the most – and we are normal kids when we’re not having fun with our secret Magi Master lives! ;^)

The school part of our day was extra-fun because Mom and Dad were both with us a lot as chaperones for our class – and Naomi’s.  She was – as usual – allowed to hang out with us, and while we haven’t mentioned that before; it isn’t usually a problem because we have other classmates just as happy to trade places with her to hang out with older friends.  Some of our friends wouldn’t like having their parents for chaperones on school outings, but even though Dad is a lawyer; our parents are still considered cool – and let’s not comment on how our parents are rated on hotness scales for the boys or girls!  They watched the shows with us; went through the display tents; played some games; and went on some of the rides with us.  We did our best to keep Dad from getting sick.  The school part of our adventures today wrapped up at around four o’clock – later than normal, but we stayed at the park anyway; so that didn’t really matter.  The midway and gaming play time continued until we stopped for dinner.  We supported the food booths for the charities we wanted to help the most; though we got to have our favorite foods too.  The dining areas were set up to be socially-distanced, but we were still able to have our meal in a larger family-and-friends group.  That was a highlight of our day; and then we got to have another couple of hours of play time at the midway before coming home.

We’ve already had some parental help with getting the tent set-up – and we’re not the only kids having a camping night; though we don’t have any other cousins or friends doing that in our back yard.  That’s why we only need to get our things and get changed before meeting up with Naomi and Aiden in the back yard when they get back from their homes with overnight bags.  This update is being multi-tasked while we do that; since we plan on keeping the fun going with some quality cuddle time; a long bedtime chat; and possibly a movie on one of our iPads.  That’s news we can write about tomorrow night, but we’re ready to get back to having fun – as we promised we would this weekend; so we’re going to wrap this up without offering any other local or world news and do that!
