Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - November 12, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

We’re going with an early bedtime tonight so that we can be up early with Dad before he heads to the city for the week.  Our adventures from the end of our last update included the pot-luck dinner we mentioned; and that was an event thanks to Zack and Eli bringing their worst to the meal that the kids and tweens shared in the sunroom while the adults had a quieter dinner in the dining room.  The food ranged from Pizzeria pizza to casseroles and pasta dishes.  Aiden’s parents provided the bakery desserts; and we are not going to detail the food and drinks games that we did not find entertaining – even if that wasn’t true for at least half of the kids in the house.  The tweens were drafted for the post-dinner clean-up; and then Ehlana went home with Aiden for the night while Naomi happily out-smarted Zack and Eli by deciding to stay here with me instead of taking me home with her!  That worked for us; Mom and Dad watched a movie with us in the lounge; and then we were left on our own for the rest of the night.  Yes, we had fun with more than just cuddling and another movie; details for that will not be included here; and I’ll only add that Ehlana and Aiden were very happy this morning too.  Co-ed sofa sleepovers are definitely different without other couples in the room; so don’t be surprised if we have more of them in the future! ;^)

Moving along, Naomi and I loved having Mom and Dad to ourselves for Tai Chi by the river and breakfast; Ehlana and Aiden managed to enjoy their morning with his family too; and then we collectively had a happy blast of fun at church and Sunday school – including with the work we helped to do for the upcoming teen-led holiday services.  Naomi and Aiden came home with us for lunch; we spent the afternoon biking the trails and playing with some of our friends; and then Ehlana and I were on our own when we came home to help Mom with the dinner prep work.  We missed out on a vid-chat with Cassie and Michael that they had with Mom and Dad after checking into their hotel in Santiago, but we didn’t mind that much; and are happy to be counting down the days until they’ll be home again on Saturday evening.  Dinner with Mom and Dad was followed by the tweens-only clean-up; Mom did a Magi lesson with us; and then it was bath or Jacuzzi time because we really do want the extra sleep tonight – and Dad had his work done by then too.  No commentary is required for why Mom and Dad wanted an early bedtime, but they have their wards up around their room; so sleeping obviously wasn’t the only reason for the early goodnight hugs and kisses with us!  Since we really don’t want to go there; let’s just call it a night and move on to our naps right now!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
