Our condolences to Michael, Cassie, and the Stone family.
Grandpa Lloyd Stone passed away today, and while the world hasn’t stopped to notice or mourn with us; this is a sad day for everyone that knows and loves the Stone family.
We’re not going to write very much about this or anything else today – partly because we don’t have all that many details yet. Starting our March Break or any other local news just isn’t that important by comparison either; so we’ll only mention a few things that were related to this story.
First, Michael, Cassie, Rebecca, and Lucas were not given the news until after they were finished with mid-term exams today – for obvious reasons. Rebecca and Lucas are home tonight – as they would have been for most weekends and Rebecca’s work at the pizzeria, but Cassie and Michael are not coming here tonight; and are waiting for more information about funeral plans before making travel decisions. Jacob, Miranda, Jake, and Stephanie haven’t made any plans to go and be with Jacob’s mother either – mostly because Jacob’s sister doesn’t want them to do that while dealing with the usual arrangements at that end and taking care of Grandma Francis. Grandpa Lloyd will be laid to rest here in Witch Falls; so part of the reason for those decisions could mostly be about how soon that side of Michael’s family will be coming here anyway – possibly as early as tomorrow. Finally, while there have been people we’ve known who have passed away before now, Grandpa Lloyd is the closest for personal loss because of our connection to Michael and his family. There hasn’t been much that we’ve been able to do so far to console our favorite members of the Stone family beyond a few brief visits, some hugs, and a video chat with Cassie and Michael, but we will do whatever we can over the next week and beyond.
Okay, that’s all for tonight. We’ll have more news over the next few days, but this will be the only story that matters for us because that’s how we are here in our amazing little town – we’re there for our families and friends when they need us most.
