Naomi's Journal - January 18, 2021

Happy 77th Birthday, Grandpa Shawn!

Ethan and Ehlana got me to sign the card that was sent with the gifts for their grandfather, but that was my only involvement in his special day.  I don’t know how many times Grandpa Shawn has shared his birthday with Martin Luther King day – though it is weird to think about the fact that he was born long-before the first holiday back in 1986.

That was one of the factoids we learned about during our annual lessons on Martin Luther King while at school today, and while our lessons are different than is likely true for most students in other schools – not to mention that we had classes today at all, but when you consider what we know of our own history; Magi kids and teens understand the issues that Martin Luther King fought for very well.

Those history lessons today made for a somewhat somber day for us; and then a bit of rain this afternoon was enough of a damper to keep us indoors after school – though Aiden and I spent that time in the archives with Ethan while Ehlana played in her lab instead of doing something else at home or the bakery.  The probably isn’t anyone else in the entire world that has the same love of books and history as Ethan has, but the archives are still awesome; and I like getting to visit now and then – even if I couldn’t imagine trying to read everything that is stored there.  We had fun doing that too, but the best part of my day is still ahead – which is why I’m writing this now while packing an overnight bag.  Aiden and I will be having dinner and spending the night with Ethan, Ehlana, and their parents – in part to spend time with their father before he heads to the city in the morning.  We’ll do a group Magi lesson with their Mom – which is always amazing for us; and a co-ed sofa sleepover in the lounge is a definite possibility.

I’ll have to let you know how that goes with my next update; and don’t need to wrap this up with a happy thought about Ethan because I’ll be very happy if – when – we get to cuddle together all night! ;^)

The future Mrs. Naomi (Seager) Proctor – if Ethan knows what’s good for him!
