Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - December 10, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

Happy 1st Birthday, Jarrod Wingborough!

Happy 21st Birthday, Jimmy Sheldon!

Happy 28th Birthday, Josiah Palmer!

The birthday celebrations today weren’t the top stories of our day, and we weren’t even very involved in any of them, but some of that fun happened at church; and we were at the Inn for the late buffet and Josiah’s birthday dinner.  Our top news of the day is that Cassie and Michael are home; they survived the trip with three toddlers; and had some stories to tell us too from their adventures with Michael’s family in Garden City.

Before we get to that part of our report, our day began with an indoors Tai Chi workout; a hot breakfast; and then the church service and Sunday school that included Christmas messages, music, and work to get ready for the teen-led Christmas show that is now just a week away.  It didn’t warm up all that much today, so we ended up going to play at the lab or archives this afternoon; our best friends were busy with their own families; and we only got back together with them for dinner because they were at the Inn for the late buffet too; and were allowed to hang out with us and help with some of the younger kids.  Cassie and Michael got to the Inn in time for the dinner party too, but we didn’t get to spend much time with them because they still took care of Sierra, Stuart, and Luke; and were closer to the birthday action with Josiah too.  We still had fun at the Inn and the food was as awesome as always.

Cassie and Michael returned the kids to parents or grandparents; came home with us; and Naomi and Aiden came with us too so that they could get in on the post-travel visit.  Along with a lot of driving, Cassie and Michael had a good visit with his aunt, uncle, and cousins; they had a family night in on Friday night; the top outing for Saturday was to a Christmas market and lights-in-the-park festival; and then a Sunday brunch out before they hit the road for home again with stops in Crystal Springs along the way for some supplies and a fast food snack break.  The top stories were all about the fun they had with the kids, and while they really did enjoy the time with the rest of their Stone family; it was the niece-and-nephews’ time that was especially-great for all of them.

While we would have loved to sit up all night and talk with them, Cassie and Michael had to be home in time for a video conference, so they headed out when needed and took Naomi and Aiden along and dropped them off along the way – after switching their bags from Mom’s minivan to their car too.  Mom didn’t want us doing anything after that except getting clean and ready for bed, so bath or Jacuzzi time followed those departures; and now we’re nearly-ready to call it a night and get some sleep.  There really isn’t anything important to add to this update either; so let’s move on to our Christmas music video pick of the day.

We have so many favorite songs from Christmas movies that we could have a full list and more just with them, but this one makes our list again because we love the movie, the song, and the artist – and wish that she had more songs out there for us to enjoy.  Hopefully you’ll love this song too, so enjoy it while we head off to dreamland with happy Christmassy thoughts and joy in our hearts!
