Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - October 4, 2023

Ethan and Ehlana:

The highlight of our Wednesday was the recording session at the studio – the fourth for our Christmas album; and you won’t be surprised at that news.  We had a good morning with Tai Chi by the river and breakfast with Mom and Dad and our academic adventures were good with more outdoor time while enjoying the great weather.  We grabbed our gear and headed for the studio right after school and got to work; Sophia and Aaron joined us and did their parts before dinner; and we went with another Pizzeria pizza meal at the studio with our favorite studio owners and a total of five parents.  We should probably mention that the cost of those meals add to the recording expense, but in that case; Mom and Dad are covering those costs; so we aren’t including it in the total cost of making this album.  I’ll also mention that we aren’t worried about that money; since we’re sure that we’ll get the sales to make a little profit – though we won’t be able to quit our family business jobs anytime ever! ;^)

Moving along, we got another three songs done and part of a fourth started tonight.  That’s working pretty well; and we might be able to finish up the recordings part of the project with one more session – two at the most.  That will depend on how many songs we decide to put on the album, but right now we’re expecting to go with fourteen Christmas songs plus toe Mulan single that might actually be ready for release in the next week or two.  It was nine-thirty by the time we finished at the studio, packed up, and got home and put our gear away.  Mom did a Magi lesson with us; and then we weren’t allowed to do more work in the office – though Mom and Dad didn’t follow that order for themselves.  Ehlana was okay with some quality Jacuzzi time instead; I opted for a shower; and we’ve been winding down with a twin chat that also included vid-chats with Naomi and Aiden because we’re all still fired up from the music fun.  The computer checks aren’t much fun when it comes to world and national events, but that’s the norm; and we aren’t going to get into any commentary tonight because we’re opting to be happy instead!  There is a bit of news that we should include for the band before we wrap this up; since we’ve been talking about our plans tonight.  We’re booked for a set at the teen dance for the fall festival, and while we’ll be on-stage before most of the teens will get there because of the football game; we’ll plan our music to be kid and family friendly; since that’ll likely be our audience for most or all of our set.  We’ll need to practice for that over the next week, and that feels a bit weird when we’ve been in Christmas music mode for weeks now, but we’ll manage to multi-task.  We’re also looking at getting Sophia and Aaron to help us out with at least a couple of songs, and while they might not want to join the band for everything we do; we hope that they’ll continue to play with us now and then – especially since we’re sure to get ‘job’ offers through the Christmas season.  We’ve also already been booked for a set at the school Halloween dance and at the Haunted Halloween walk; and we might be helping with some music at the seniors’ Halloween luncheon at the church this year too – along with the school band and other entertainers.  We’ll keep you posted on that one; and should know for sure by next Tuesday night.

That’s enough for this report.  We’re tired and need to get some sleep to recharge; so we’ll get to that right now.

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
