Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - October 26, 2020

Ehlana and Ethan:

The top news around here today has been the first snow of the season; but we’re just as happy about Jake and Stephanie’s move into the Stone family home.

Snow was falling by early-morning, so Tai Chi was indoors, but then that also gave us the chance to have our winter gear ready in time for the walk to school.  While we were busy there – including having a lot of bonus outdoor fun in the snow; Jake and Stephanie had lots of help with the move from their apartment.  Mom and Dad weren’t part of that group, but they weren’t needed; since the Wingborough and Bassett clans were there to help with all of the work; and the crews were fed at the Inn.  We haven’t been on a tour of the remodeled house yet either, but will likely get around to that eventually – and by no later than Thanksgiving; since Cassie and Michael are sure to get a tour once they’re home for that week.

The move was done before we were finished school for the day; though the unpacking will likely take a week or more.  We didn’t really even think about that much because going out to play in the snow was our priority; and most of our friends joined us for that fun.  Some of that was around our yard; the rest was at the park; and then we got home in time to warm up before dinner.  Naomi and Aiden stayed for that meal because we still needed to have our music practice; and Mom did a bonus Magi lesson with the four of us before we saw Naomi and Aiden home while taking Silkie for a bedtime walk.

We didn’t end up working or studying tonight.  Bath or Jacuzzi time was a priority by then after all of the messy snow play; so we got clean; and now we’re wrapping up our day with the usual twin bedtime chat and this update.  There isn’t really much more to add for the news of the day, but since we’ve skipped writing about anything from current events around the world; we’ll offer just a bit of commentary and a pandemic update.

We’ll pass forty-four million confirmed cases by tomorrow for the worldwide total; and top nine million here at home.  The new case surges in Europe continue and are spreading; and that’s true here at home again too.  With normal cold and flu season just beginning; the next four or five months are likely to be challenging – particularly in those coronavirus outbreak areas where only tests can definitively show the difference between the similar symptoms.  The use of masks could actually have a big impact on the normal fall and winter illnesses, but there seems to be more and more people fighting against any restrictions; so that is far from certain.  We’ll continue to keep you posted on the pandemic now and then, but let’s move on to other news; and then wrap this up.

The presidential election is getting close, and to be honest; we’ll just be glad to have it over – and hope that getting the results won’t be dragged out for even days let alone weeks or months.  We’re likely supposed to be too-young to be cynics, but let’s be honest – nothing will really change in Washington D.C. no matter who is in charge.  We won’t be at all surprised if that doesn’t change until after the Ascension of the Light, but don’t tell any of those politicians, since if they’re still in office when that happens; their careers after that will be short-lived. ;^)

The wars and saber-rattling going on around the world continues to worry us more, but there isn’t anything we can do about any of that yet; so we’ll continue to hope and pray that people will come to their senses before we get ourselves into more trouble than our little planet can handle.  Finally, while we’re dealing with snow and wintry weather today; the gulf coast is going to get hit with another storm this week.  They don’t need that or all of the rain that will come with it; so our thoughts and prayers are with those people too.

That’s a lot of bad news for one day, but then that seems to be the case every day lately with no end in sight.  The good news, though, is that there really is hope for our collective future; and we’re going to be at the center of helping to make that future come true!

We won’t get much of that done during the rest of this week, but we are still kids; so we’ll settle for having more Halloween fun for the rest of the week – right after we go and get some sleep starting right now.

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - October 25, 2020

Ehlana and Ethan:

Naomi and the Phantoms was a hit last night, and while we don’t plan on becoming huge stars on the internet or elsewhere for obvious reasons; it felt awesome to have everyone watching us love our little mini-concert!

That was the highlight of our night, but we had a blast with the games and other shows; the Haunted Halloween Walk was as amazing as always; and we enjoyed a few too-many Halloween treats.  We had some stops to make along the way to Naomi’s house to drop off instruments and pick up overnight bags, but we were there by a bit after ten o’clock; and that left us with time for a Halloween movie to go along with our co-ed cuddle time.  Zack and Eli were there too, so we had to put up with more of their pranks and attempts to scare us, but that didn’t keep us from enjoying the movie – or the cuddle time.  It was past-midnight before we ran out of steam and then napped until morning, but we did that paired up too; so we were happy campers when we got up for Tai Chi this morning.

We will not comment on why Mom and Dad were also very happy this morning – though we didn’t find that out until we met them at the church.

It was cold this morning, but we went outside for Tai Chi anyway; and then enjoyed the hot breakfast that Naomi’s parents cooked up for us.  The boys got ready for church first; so they took care of the clean-up while the girls got to play dress-up; so that was fun too – at least for the girls.  Zack and Eli didn’t exactly help with the clean-up; since they were more-interested in having a scary good time instead; so Ethan and Aiden did most of the actual work.  We had a good morning at church and Sunday school, and while our Halloween band might have Naomi as the leader; Ethan got a lot of the attention from our friends and others today because of the ‘fan-favorite’ song – Unsaid Naomi.  His unofficial girlfriend both loved and hated that attention directed his way – hating it because most of it came from girls.  She has nothing to worry about and knows it; but why let that get in the way of having fun? ;^)

Moving along, Dad had to work in the office all afternoon, and our best friends actually had family commitments today; so we spent the afternoon at the lab or archives.  Mom was with us for some of that time, but she had some work to do at home too; so we were on our own for the rest of the time.  Dillon wasn’t there because he and Violet are busy getting ready for the move into their new house; and Uncle Adam was actually taking an entire day off from any work at all.  We got home in time for dinner; did a bit of studying and a Magi lesson after that; and then wrapped up our weekend with bath or Jacuzzi time.

We’re ready to wrap this up and get a good night of rest after a very busy weekend; so we’ll skip adding anything about other news from here or around the world.  Taking happy thoughts into nap time will be better for us too; and thanks to another awesome weekend; we have a lot of happiness to dream about tonight – so we will!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - October 24, 2020

Ehlana and Ethan:

A morning of yard chores hasn’t been much fun, but we’re done for the day; and about the hit the showers before we have a late lunch.  We’ve decided to do this update early because we’re going to be too-busy having fun for the rest of the day – including a co-ed sleepover at Naomi’s house tonight while Mom and Dad take a turn for a kid-free night.

We’ll have all of the best details from today with our next report, but that’s all for today; and we’re going to enjoy all of the Halloween-themed entertainment we have on the schedule for the rest of the day – including our debut of Naomi and the Phantoms!  You can flip the digital page and read on whenever you’re doing this in our future; and we’ll get on with living the adventures.

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - October 23, 2020

Ehlana, Ethan, Naomi, and Aiden:

With the stage debut for Naomi and the Phantoms less than a day away; you can understand why music has been our life since our last update, but we’ve had other kinds of fun too; and our priorities aren’t really a top news topic around town.

The weather is, and while we all enjoyed the hotter weather yesterday; the drop into the mid-forties overnight and then through today was a bit of a shock; and we’ll go slightly-below freezing tonight.  That really does feel strange to go from having a barbeque dinner yesterday to cranking the heat in the house within hours, but we’ll leave that for others to write about and focus on our own adventures.

Last night, that was the barbeque dinner that we followed up with a music practice while our parents helped out with our costumes.  Our fathers were in charge of that because they worked out a way for us to put a drum set, keyboard, and a small sound system on wheels for the parade.  We tested everything out; made a few adjustments because we’ll be walking while playing our instruments; and now our costumes are ready to go – though we won’t need the mobility tomorrow night.  Naomi’s and Aiden’s parents went home early; Mom did a Magi lesson with us; and then it was time for co-ed cuddling and a Halloween movie in the lounge.  That was a fun end to our day; we stayed in couples for the sofa sleepover; and that’s it for the rest of the news from yesterday.

Tai Chi was indoors this morning due to a bit of rain; and that made the cold feel worse – or would have if we’d gone out in it.  Having a home school day on Friday is always great, but Zack and Eli were in top form; and even Mom had a tough time keeping them interested in their online lessons and assignments today.  Sure, we’re all fired up about the Haunted Halloween Walk tomorrow night, but Zack and Eli are especially-focused on scaring everyone around them; and make it their mission to do that whenever they can.  That is more-annoying for the girls in their lives; so two of us were fed up with them long before they headed home for the night with the parents that lost the contest for where their sleepover is being held tonight.

While we didn’t have fun with their attempts to entertain themselves today, we still got our own online lessons and assignments finished early; so we had a music practice after that; did a fairly-short bike ride at the park; and then kept the rest of the afternoon entertainment indoors.  Younger cousin kid control was part of that fun; video gaming in the lounge was part of that for the boys; and then we moved on to our family-and-friends dinner and Halloween fun night.  The food was holiday themed; we had pumpkin carving after that; and then a Halloween movie in the living room or more video gaming in the lounge.  All of our guests except for Naomi and Aiden headed for home after that; Mom and Dad have gone to bed; and we’re watching one more movie in the lounge before getting around to the co-ed sofa sleepover.

We’re talking a lot about our musical debut tomorrow night too, but none of us are really nervous at all, and we are still kids; so we have no doubt that we’ll exceed expectations by quite a bit when not even our friends have really heard us play and sing together as a band.  Naomi is more fired-up than the rest of us, but then that’s normal – and one of the reasons we’re Naomi and the Phantoms instead of Ehlana, Ethan, or Aiden and the Phantoms! ;^)

That is pretty much all we have for tonight for our own news.  Cassie and Michael have had a good week at school, and might have some Halloween fun with their friends this weekend, but they have a lot of work to do too; and will have study time both days.  You’ll have to look elsewhere for anything about the presidential debate from last night; though we’ll offer credit to anyone able to actually watch it at all.  Just overhearing some of the low-lights being talked about or on the news today was enough to have us sure that our evening was better-spent with music – and that Zack and Eli aren’t as scary as the top-two contenders for President.

It’s too-bad that we didn’t think about getting Zack and Eli to dress up as Trump and Biden for Halloween before they picked something else! ;^)

That’s enough for tonight.  We’ll finish the movie; and then get some sleep so that we’ll be ready for all of the work and fun we have booked for tomorrow.  Stay tuned – this is going to be another awesome weekend!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - October 22, 2020

Ehlana and Ethan:

The weather today has been awesome – a one-day return to summer!  That’s why we had a lot of outdoor time at school today; and we just wrapped up an afternoon biking and park play time with our friends.  This update is early because we’re going to have too-much fun for the rest of the day.  Naomi and Aiden are packing overnight bags for a sleepover; we’re hosting a family barbeque here with their families; and we’ll be spending the evening playing music and having other Halloween fun before getting around to the cuddle-and-movie time – and the likely co-ed sofa sleepover!

We’re getting ready for all of that, so we don’t have anything else for today; and will have the rest of the story with our next update.
