Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - June 13, 2019

Ethan:

It was all fun and games for us today – at school; home; and at the Inn for the final game night ahead of the summer break.  Even our Magi lesson was more play than work; and now I’m ready to crash and nap – which is why I’ll leave it up to Ehlana to decide what to add for any details.  We’ll be done school for the summer by early-afternoon tomorrow; so I want to be rested up and ready for a weekend full of fun.

Ehlana:

Our play day at school was brilliant; and we also did very well at the games and earned a few prizes and awards along the way – with the ‘we’ including Naomi and Aiden; since we teamed up with them whenever that was possible.  I couldn’t do that with Naomi as often because we’re in different classes, and Ethan teamed up with me sometimes too, but while it’s fun to win; we all did have to play normal too.  Winning every game – even against teens – just isn’t an option for us.

Playing at the lab after school didn’t end up being an option because our friends wanted us to bike and play with them instead.  We went along with that because it’s been a great weather day too; and we can always play at the lab more than normal starting next week.  Mom and Dad went with an easy dinner that included grilled hot dogs and burgers; the last game night of the ‘season’ was fun – even without any junior championships for Ethan or me; and the Magi lesson was followed by some quality Jacuzzi time for me while Ethan opted for the quick shower instead of tub time.

I love my Jacuzzi!

We’re also down to one more sleep before summer holidays; and I’m ready to get some sleep too.

The only additions to this update that I’ll make before doing that is to note that Cassie has not likely had as much fun today as we have with her second long day of classes of the week; and we don’t have any details yet because she’s too busy to chat with us tonight – at least so far; and we’ll be sleeping soon anyway.  Finally, I also want to mention that our school year ends sooner than for other schools and districts, but that’s farm-related for part of it; and because our teachers have the extra work or training during the weeks before and after the school year instead of adding in days for professional development during the rest of the year.  That works for us, and while other kids and teens might be jealous of us for being done a week or two sooner in June; we sometimes feel that way right back when they get the extra long weekends that we don’t get to have instead.  It all works out, though; and isn’t really a big deal.  I’m just mentioning it because we will hear about it a bit over the next few weeks from relatives and vacationing visitors – particularly over the Fourth of July holiday.

Okay, that’s all for me; so I’m back to the real world and ready to get to sleep.

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - June 12, 2019

Ethan:

Ehlana and I had lab or archive play time after school; a late dinner; and then play time at the park and junior cousin kid control duty while the parents played baseball.  Tomorrow is play day at school; so that’s all I have for tonight because crashing and napping is next on my to-do list.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

Ditto that for me; I love my Jacuzzi; and we don’t have any news from Cassie to report – which likely means that she’s having too much fun with Michael during the five extra minutes she has in her day that isn’t booked with classes and studying. ;^)

Two more sleeps to summer holidays!

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - June 11, 2019

Ethan:

I spent the extra time at the lab – in the archives – while Ehlana had to cut her play time there short when it was time for an early dinner and her ball practice.  The rest of our day was pretty much a repeat both at school and home; so I don’t have anything newsworthy to report tonight.

I am tired and ready to sleep, though; so I will.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

We have our first ballgame of the season this weekend, so our practice was more-serious; and went pretty well.  Naomi and I hope that our team will have better luck and avoid starting the season with a trio of losses for our family teams; so we’re motivated.  I was happy with the lab time, since I’ll likely be taking a break this weekend and into our first week of summer holidays.

The only news I actually have for today, though, is for Cassie.  Michael’s surprised her with a visit; and Miranda changed up his work schedule so that he can stay there until Sunday morning.  I don’t have any details yet – possibly because they’ve been too busy to chat with us tonight.  ;^)

Okay, we did know that Cassie had a study and dinner plan with one or more of her new study buddies, and she didn’t likely cancel that because of Michael’s surprise visit; so they could still be busy with that instead of anything that I won’t write about here.  I am glad that Cassie has someone there with her for the rest of the week; and then it’ll just be one more week before she’ll be home for a certain double-birthday visit.

I’ll keep you posted if there’s any interesting news from Cassie and Michael that isn’t too-hot to include here, but that’ all for tonight.

Three more sleeps to summer holidays!

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - June 10, 2019

Ethan:

We had play time at school along with a bit of work to clean up ahead of the summer break.  Ehlana and I went to the lab after we were set free, and while I could only hang out in the archives until I needed to have an early dinner and then get to my baseball practice; Ehlana stayed longer; and then had a late dinner shortly before I got back from the school.  Add in studying or work in the office, a Magi lesson, and a shower for me; and that’s all of the news for today.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

I loved getting to play in the lab today; and we’ve had fun with everything – even the work and classroom clean-up chores.  There really isn’t anything else to add; so that’s all for me tonight too!

Four more sleeps to summer holidays! ;^)

Ethan's and Ehlana's Journals - June 9, 2019

Ethan:

The second-half of our weekend has been quiet, but we’ve had fun too – including an afternoon visit to the lab after lunch and some biking and park play time with our friends while Naomi and Aiden had other things to do for the rest of the day.

We’re having another quiet night at home too; so I really don’t have any news to offer for today.  Sleep is an option now, though, and while we just have a play week ahead of us at school; I’ll go with the extra down time and be ready for all of the fun.

Ethan – out!

Ehlana:

I’ll add that I liked the visit to the lab more than Ethan; though we didn’t actually get much work done today.  Dad got his homework done this afternoon; and the only work we did tonight was our Magi lesson.  The quiet night at home included a family and dog walk; a bit of television; and bedtime Jacuzzi or shower time.

The Cassie update is more interesting.  She was on her own for the morning – though she had some other girls to sit with at church, but then she had lunch for one at an off-campus diner; met up with one of her new friends, Xia, for a study session; and then they met up with Xia’s boyfriend, Marcus, for a bike ride on some of the campus and city parks trails.  From what she told us about her new friends; we’ll guess that Xia and Marcus will be new friends for Cassie and Michael – and for Rowen and Tim too when they go back to school.  They’re into outdoor sports too, along with being in the environmental engineering program; so they’re also into saving the world – if in a different way that Cassie and Michael.

That’s all I have for tonight, but I’m not quite ready to sleep yet; so I’ll move on for some light readying until I am ready to crash and nap.

Five more sleeps to our summer holidays! ;^)
