Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - September 11, 2026

Ehlana and Ethan:

Today is the twenty-fifth anniversary of 9/11; so that has been the top story of the day – including for part of our academic adventures.  We know that it is different for us than it is for all of our favorite people that were old-enough to have experienced the attacks through the media reports and the shocks that went along with seeing some of the events happen live while it is history to us, but we also understand how that event has led to where we are in the world now and the current conflicts.  There have been non-stop wars since then; and we really wish that we could experience some quality time without major conflicts happening somewhere in the world – or at least wars that we haven’t instigated and led!  Since this is a very solemn day for so many of our favorite people; we will not go into any major world news commentary or rants.  Ethan and I also don’t have much time for this update because we’re only home long-enough to get some food and take a little break before he’ll head out for Brookbridge with the team and I’ll follow a bit later with Naomi and Sophia – this time with Naomi’s Dad as our designated driver – or co-driver if Naomi gets to drive again this week!

We don’t really have much more news for our day-so-far.  The weather is good and we aren’t going to get the rain that was in the forecast for today earlier in the week – though that’s only been pushed ahead of us to Saturday.  That worked for us from Tai Chi by the river this morning through some bonus outdoor time at school today; and the game time temperature is going to be in the mid-seventies and near-perfect for a football game!  The rest of our story for today can wait for our next update – though we’ll add that Naomi will be hosting our post-game co-ed sleepover.  We’re multi-tasking this update with packing our overnight bags and need to get downstairs for that quick meal; so let’s wrap this up with the micro world news update.

It is Friday, so we aren’t surprised to see downward pressure on oil prices today after the big rise through the rest of the week, but nothing has changed with the wars; and pushing prices down will just end badly eventually.  Note to our leaders, if supply is constrained; you should not intentionally try to force prices lower when that will only increase demand instead of encouraging conservation while supplies are limited!  The Houthis continue to take territory in Yemen and have more control over the Red Sea shipping traffic.  The Strait of Hormuz is a mess too as attacks continue on both sides; and Ukraine is still getting pounded every day as their troops are pressed hard all along the front lines.  Let’s add that Ukrainian forces have added using sea drones against Russian resort towns and have injured dozens of civilians, but they continue to look for media clicks and attention while ignoring the consequences that come from the Russian retaliations for those attacks.

That’s all for today, but we’ll leave you with our usual 9/11 memorial song pick; and wish that our leaders would remember how that day felt for Americans and everyone else affected by those attacks in the world; stop doing worse to other people in other countries; and choose peace and love over war and hate!

Until next time, live with love, fellow Magi of the Light!
