Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - February 23, 2021

 

Ehlana and Ethan:

The news of the day is the warm weather; and we loved having the temperature rise to near-seventy.  It was sunny for a lot of the day too; so that was great too.  We were at school today too, but thanks to the sun and warm; we spent most of the afternoon outdoors – and then went out to play once we were set free from our lessons and work.  Our biking and play time included exploring at the park near the falls so that we could check out the bonus entertainment that comes with a quick-melt.  Sure, that wasn’t an epic event when we didn’t have much snow to start with around here, but the falls were running strong today; and that’s always fun to watch.

Some of our friends were responsible for a lot of the entertainment, but we won’t name the two members of our little group that got too-close to the falls and river; found out the hard way that the water is still very cold; and needed to bike home to get dry and warm again while missing out on the rest of our play time.

We came home in time for dinner; and have had a quiet work-study evening since then.  There isn’t any news to write about from our studies, but we still had fun with Mom and Dad.  It was still warm-enough to make a bedtime walk with Silkie fun, and she loved getting out after we kept her inside for most of the deep-freeze time.  We skipped the music practice tonight, but we’ve been listening to music videos while having our bedtime chat.  It has been one of those really good days, so we’ll avoid ending that on a down note by skipping any commentary about the world news of the day – though maybe we should wonder why even the supposedly-good news stories that get reported really aren’t happy stories at all.

That’s still bad news, though, so we won’t go there; don’t have anything to add tonight; so we’ll move on and continue our chat and music-listening fun until we’re ready to sleep.

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - February 22, 2021

 

Ehlana and Ethan:

We’ve started the last school week of February with warmer weather, and while we won’t miss the deep cold at all; the snow that is still left around here won’t last long and we would have liked to have at least a few more sledding or snowboarding opportunities this winter.

With the temperature climbing into the low-fifties today, sledding wasn’t on our minds after our home-school adventures with Mom, our friends, and some cousins, but we did go out to play and bike this afternoon.  We couldn’t ride on most of the trails at the park, but just getting more-mobile again was great; and we had fun with our friends for a couple of hours until it was time to get home again for dinner.  We’ve had a standard dinner, study, and work evening since then, and while we got a lot done; even our Magi lesson was a bit on the boring side – even if non-Magi kids might not think that possible for any use of our talents.

Trust us – there are least-favorite lessons to learn even for junior Magi Masters! ;^)

Moving along, that’s pretty much all we have for this report.  We came upstairs once our studying was finished; had a music practice; got ready for bed; and now we’re ready to wrap up this update and our bedtime twin-chat.  The news from around the world probably seems quiet to most people compared to even a few weeks ago, but while we don’t want to get into commenting on anything tonight; we don’t see any significant reasons for short-term optimism.  Sure, the pandemic statistics are improving for daily new cases and deaths, but there are still too-many unknowns for anyone to be declaring victory anytime soon – or an imminent end to the effects and costs of the pandemic on everyone.  That sounds pessimistic, but we aren’t that – and can’t be; since we do believe that we will help to bring about the next Ascension of the Light.  Thinking about that is a happier way to go at bedtime, so we’ll stop there – and do that!

Ehlana's and Ethan's Journals - February 21, 2021

 

Ehlana and Ethan:

Our day began as normal with Tai Chi and breakfast-for-four with Mom and Dad; we had fun at church and Sunday school; and then we split up so that Ethan could go on his date with Naomi!

Okay, they weren’t on a date, but he did spend a lot of the rest of the day with her and they were busy with her family from lunchtime through to after-dinner.  Judging by the smile on his face right now as we’re doing this update; Ethan had a happy day; so I’ll give him the win on the better day.

While he was playing with my best friend, I had lunch with Mom and Dad; went to play at the lab for the afternoon; and then Mom and Dad decided to take me to the Inn for dinner.  We had a quiet hour or so back here at home after that before Ethan got home too; moved on to bath or Jacuzzi time soon after that; and will be having an early bedtime because we’re all tired and ready to get the extra sleep tonight.  That’s all we have for this report for here at home, but we should mention that Cassie and Michael are doing well – if a lot too-busy.  Mom keeps in more contact with Cassie than we do, but even our video chats are usually short; and we’re all wishing that we could spend more time together.  Maybe we’ll get to do that over our March breaks, but we’ll see how that goes; since Cassie and Michael are also getting pulled in a lot of directions – especially with his new niece.  Missing out on her first months is tough on them too, but those personal costs are just something we’ll all have to deal with now – and for a lot of the next decade or two through to beyond when we take our turns at college.

That’s looking a bit further ahead than we want to do tonight, and we’re ready for that extra sleep now anyway; so we are going to move on and do that soon.

Ehlana and Ethan:

We had a lot of fun last night, but not with anything newsworthy to write about.  It was nice to have Dad home again last night too, but he was tired; and only had a short visit with us before being ready to just go get some sleep.  The music play time, movies, and cuddle time all went as well as usual; and the co-ed sofa sleepover was a great way to both end the day and get this one started.

For today, Tai Chi and a hot breakfast made for a great start to our day; the chores all morning after that wasn’t exciting, but fun; since Mom let us do most of that work with our Magi talents; and then we’ve had a play afternoon after lunch.  Naomi and Aiden were with their families this morning after breakfast; were with us for the play time this afternoon; and they just went home in time for dinner with our own families.  We have no major plans for tonight – just a quiet dinner and an evening that might include some work or studying.  Whatever we end up doing for the rest of the day, we’re fairly-sure that we can do this update now without missing out on anything important.  We had time for this now while getting cleaned up from our play afternoon ahead of dinner, so we’ve done that; and now we’re going to move on to spending some quality time with Mom and Dad.

Ehlana and Ethan:

Happy 25^th Birthday, Christina Palmer!

We didn’t have any involvement in Christina’s special day beyond the family gifts, but we do expect that Josiah and their best friends will make sure that Christina has a happy day.

Our day has been quiet, but fun.  We had a good day at school, and thanks to temperatures that warmed all the way to freezing this afternoon; we went out to play with our friends after school.  We don’t really have a lot of snow around here, but there was enough for some sledding on the ridge and snowball fights.  We just got home from that blast of fun, and we’re writing this update now because Naomi and Aiden will be here soon and they’ll stay for a sleepover.  Our plans for tonight aren’t newsworthy either, but we’ll have fun with music, movies, and cuddle time before wrapping up our school week with a co-ed sofa sleepover.

A happy day with no news works for us, so we’ll wrap this up; finish getting ready for our guests; and get back to having fun with our family and friends.
