Cassie's Journal - April 10, 2017

We had a bit of rain overnight, but it was still nice-enough for Tai Chi by the river this morning; so we had a pretty good start to our day.

I don’t actually have a lot of news to report.  Our school day was quiet and the Easter-themed fun is keeping us entertained even while the high school students are continuing to work at something close to normal for our classes while the primary kids get to do more holiday playing.  The temperature was cooler today, but still in the mid-to-high sixties for the afternoon; so we had lunch outside; and Michael and I went biking for a while after school.  We ended up doing that on our own because the twins stayed at the lab until dinnertime; so that’s also why I didn’t spend much time with them today at all.  I had dinner at Michael’s house; we had the usual Monday night homework, music practice, make-out time, and bedtime chat with his parents; and then I came home and got started on my work and studies.

That began with my Magi lesson with Mom; I took care of getting the twins tucked in for the night after that because they’d stayed up late to work on their college projects; and then I really got to work after that.  It’s another late night for me, but I am getting ahead and will be ready for the holiday weekend break; so it’s worth the effort.

It’s also exhausting, and I’ve had more than enough fun for today; so, until next time...

Cassie's Journal - April 9, 2017

I’m not doing a very good job with my journal updates too often right now, but it’s been another very long day; and I need to get some sleep while I can; so this will be shorter than it should be too.

First up – Happy 14th Birthday, Patrick!

I’m starting with that because his birthday was the reason for why Rowen was going to be spending the night with me on Saturday in the first place – because he was having his birthday party and a sleepover with his friends; so Rowen was getting out of the way for the night so he could do that.  We found out that Patrick, Jessica, and their friends switched plans last night and camped in the back yard too – a decision that was made after they found out that we were doing a camping night instead of the movie and sleepover plans that hadn’t originally included Michael and Tim.

For us, after I finished my little bit of computing last night, we finished setting up our little two-tent campsite; Dad helped with the campfire; and then we had a few hours of campfire fun that included the parents and quite a few neighbors joining us.  Patrick, Jessica, and their gang stopped in for a while too, but only stayed long-enough to raid the snacks and drinks; sing a few songs; and listen to a scary story before heading back to their own party.  We started wrapping up the campfire at eleven; Michael, Rowen, Tim, and I had our four junior campers tucked in for the night by eleven-thirty; and then we had some wind down time on the benches by the river that also gave Naomi the chance to sneak into the boys’ tent and fall asleep while cuddling with Ethan in his sleeping bag.  As usual, we took pictures; and then moved Naomi back to her own sleeping bag.  Michael and I took the first turn at washroom breaks while getting ready for bed; that gave us a chance for some privacy with the goodnight hugs and kisses; and then we watched over the kids while Rowen and Tim did the same.

Rowen and I had a bit of girl chat time once we were in our tent for the night; and then we went off to sleep.  Our Sunday morning was fairly-crazy.  We had to help out with breakfast, the clean-up, and getting the kids ready for church.  A stop at Rowen’s house was needed to wish Patrick a happy birthday and give him the gifts they’d picked out for him; and then Michael and I needed to get to the church a bit early because the teen praise team was doing part of the music for the service – a pair of songs that were promotional for the sunrise service.  The Palm Sunday service was very busy and long, but we needed that time at Sunday school to finish up everything for the Easter Sunday services.

Because we were late getting out of Sunday school, Michael, Rebecca, Jenny, and I all needed to hurry to the Inn to get started on the lunch prep work.  Michael and I worked all day; which meant that we missed out on most of the nice weather today.  The temperature climbed into the eighties again, but that didn’t keep us from being busy at the Inn this time like it did on Saturday; so the lunch and buffet sittings had the dining rooms nearly-full.  We did go biking on our afternoon break and had some park play time with my family; but that feels like a blip in my day in hindsight as I’m writing this report.  Among the buffet highlights was Patrick’s birthday party at the late buffet, and since they were in my section for that; I got to be around for some of that fun – and got to have a pretty nice tip too! ;^)

This isn’t exactly a micro-update, and I really do need to get some rest; so let’s move this along so I can do that.

We ended up working until ten-thirty by the time we had the dining room set up for the breakfast shift and we could head home.  I stopped at Michael’s for a short bedtime visit; we did our goodnight hugs and kisses on the front porch; and then I came home and did my Magi lesson with Mom while Dad finished up his homework in the office.  The twins were in bed already by then, so I stopped into their rooms for goodnight hugs and kisses – and another pair of short bedtime chats.  They’d both still been awake and doing some like, doctoral-level reading; but they were mostly only doing that to be awake to see me and they were both ready to go to sleep by the time I left and came up to my room.

I’ve had a lot of work to do since climbing into bed with Mandy and my computer.  I did as much as I could in a time phase, but had hours of work that needed to be done in real time; which is why I’m pretty much wiped out now.  Let’s not bore all of us with the details of that work or studying.  I’m getting a lot accomplished, but there’s a lot of boring involved in those business and language study details; and I don’t need the help to crash into nap mode.

We’re going to have a busy week heading into Easter, and I need all of the town time I can get even though we only have a four-day school week; so that’s all for tonight.

Until next time...

Cassie's Journal - April 8, 2017

The breakfast shift at the Inn was fun; a chores day at home was good too – thanks to some really nice weather and temperatures that climbed into the low eighties; and Michael and I even had a bit of play time this afternoon during his break before we needed to be back at the Inn for the dinner shift.  A sunny, warm day kept the customers away tonight; so Michael and I were set free early; and that’s why this update is coming to you early too – or at least that’s part of the reason.

We’re also getting ready for a camping night and campfire – a change in plans that is entirely due to the weather.  Rowen was booked to spend the night with me, and we were going to hang out with Michael and Tim for the rest of the evening too, but we changed that up because it’s supposed to stay fairly warm overnight; so camping was an option.  Ethan, Ehlana, Naomi, and Aiden signed up for that new plan; so we’ll have a total of eight campers.  There won’t be co-ed tents, but we’ll still have fun tonight – even if none of us get to snuggle with our favorite cuddle buddies all night.  Tents are being set up as I’m writing this, and I need to get out there; so it’s time to wrap this up and get back to my life in the real world!

Look for the news from the best part of my day along with my report for tomorrow, but that’s it for tonight; so, until next time...

Cassie's Journal - April 7, 2017

It’s early Saturday morning, but I’m not still awake – I’m home for a few minutes while getting ready for the breakfast shift at the Inn.

This isn’t that much of a delay compared to some of my late work nights, but I didn’t get my update written before my nap because I went home with Michael after our dinner-to-close shift last night; and then we promptly fell asleep while cuddling on the sofa.  We apparently did that before his parents even went to bed; so I guess that I was even more tired than I’d expected when we first got home and sat down to cuddle and have a bedtime chat.

Yes, I know there isn’t really any difference between the planned and un-planned sofa sleepovers; but I really had planned on coming home last night – because Michael and I were planning to have a sofa sleepover tonight.  We’ll see whether that works out for us or not; but we might not get away with two sleepovers in a row.

I do need to get to work now, though; so I need to wrap this up and get moving again.

It was still around freezing on Friday morning, so Tai Chi was indoors, but it warmed up through the day; and the weekend is still looking pretty good right now.  Our school day seemed a bit more fun thanks to the warm-up and sunshine too; but we didn’t spend much time outdoors today because we were busy with other things – including at lunchtime.  Michael and I couldn’t take a break after school because Miranda needed our help with more, extra work with the new guest rooms that are near-completion now; so we did that for an hour or so before going to the kitchen and helping with the prep work for dinner.  We had a busy dinner shift; two groups of late diners; and we didn’t get out of the Inn until ten-thirty.  I don’t have anything to add to what I’ve already written about the sofa sleepover; since I didn’t manage to stay awake long-enough for there to be any news – not even a goodnight kiss!

I so should have gone off on my own long-enough for some self-healing.  That was such a wasted opportunity! ;^)

Okay, save that thought for later, Proctor – you need to get to work now!  It’s been fun, but I’m out of here now; so, until next time...

Cassie's Journal - April 6, 2017

The rain moved out of the area for a while today; though not soon-enough for us to be outdoors for Tai Chi this morning.  It didn’t warm up much yet, but the weekend is looking good; so let’s hope that works out for us!

My school day was uneventful; Michael and I worked the dinner shift at the Inn – including helping out with some work in two of the new guest rooms that are nearly-ready to be used now; and then I brought Michael home with me when it was time for game night so that we could do our homework; have a music practice; and spend a bit of quality time making out while Mom, Dad, and the twins were at the Inn having fun with their friends.  Mom did a long Magi lesson with us after she got home, so that was one bonus blast of fun before Michael went home for the night and I got to work once I was tucked into bed with Mandy and my computer.

That was about three hours ago, and I’m going to be in nap mode earlier than expected tonight because I was able to do more work in a time phase than I normally can.  I’m not going to waste that opportunity by dragging out this update, and don’t really have anything else to add anyway; so, until next time...
